Following the conclusion of the 2025 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, officials released the updated championship standings on April 5, 2025. For the Scuderia Ferrari team, the event in Miami proved to be a challenging affair. While both of their cars did succeed in scoring valuable championship points, the overall performance wasn’t sufficient to improve their standing in the constructors’ championship. They maintained their position, unfortunately remaining 11 points adrift of the team currently holding third place, dealing a noticeable setback to their aspirations in the fiercely competitive championship battle unfolding this season.
In stark contrast, McLaren emerged from the Miami weekend as undoubtedly the standout performers. The team showcased remarkable pace and execution, demonstrating clear dominance throughout both the sprint race and the main grand prix. This impressive resurgence was spearheaded by a stellar performance from Oscar Piastri. His significant contribution was instrumental in propelling McLaren to achieve an exceptional run of three consecutive main race victories – a feat representing their strongest form at this stage of the season. Piastri’s recent success has now seen him move ahead of his teammate, Lando Norris, in the individual driver standings. With such commanding performances, Piastri is looking increasingly well-positioned to mount a serious challenge for the championship title if he can sustain this formidable level of performance in the races that lie ahead. Post-Miami, McLaren’s total points tally for the season climbed significantly to 246 points, establishing a clear objective for the team to surpass the 300-point mark in the near future, reflecting their heightened performance level and championship ambition.

Red Bull Racing has just crossed the 100-point mark this season while Mercedes stands at 141 points. Unless something drastic happens, McLaren seems set to clinch this season’s team championship early and defend their title successfully. If Yuki Tsunoda from Red Bull keeps performing well, Ferrari might catch up and overtake Red Bull for third place on the leaderboard. However, Leclerc and Hamilton need consistent podium finishes in forthcoming races.
Williams has shown improvement too—currently fifth with an increased tally of 37 points. Sauber has progressed from last season’s four-point finish to six but remains at the bottom of standings alongside Alpine who are just one point ahead.

In the current driver standings, the competition is unfolding with intriguing developments. Oscar Piastri presently occupies the leading position, having accumulated a significant total of 131 points. His performance has set a strong benchmark at this stage of the season.
Meanwhile, his teammate, Lando Norris, appears to be encountering difficulties in consistently maximizing his potential and making a substantial impact on the top positions, currently finding himself in a challenging phase of the championship campaign.
Further down the order, Max Verstappen holds 99 points. This places him over 30 points behind the current leader, Piastri, indicating a notable gap has formed in the early part of the season. Verstappen is working to reduce this deficit and regain ground in the championship battle.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli is positioned with 48 points. He is maintaining a lead over his fellow competitor Lewis Hamilton and is simultaneously narrowing the points difference to Charles Leclerc, suggesting a potential shift in the mid-field hierarchy. Antonelli’s recent performances seem to be contributing to this positive momentum.
Lewis Hamilton, competing for the Scuderia, currently trails Antonelli in the points classification. He is looking to improve his position and close the gap to the drivers ahead as the season progresses.
Charles Leclerc is just ahead of Antonelli, but the margin is decreasing, indicating that Antonelli’s recent form is bringing him closer to challenging Leclerc’s points tally.
Rounding out the top contenders mentioned, George Russell of Mercedes holds the fourth position in the standings. Russell is steadily reducing the points gap to Max Verstappen, suggesting a consistent performance level that is allowing him to gain on the driver ahead. The dynamics between these competitors are contributing to a compelling season narrative as they vie for higher positions.
